Key takeaways
A Wix to Framer migration usually involves rebuilding the website, rather than transferring the finished Wix pages directly.
Review Wix-specific functionality before committing to the migration. Stores, Bookings, Members, Velo, automations, and Wix apps may need a different implementation in Framer.
Use the migration to clean up the website. Review what should be kept, redesigned, merged, or removed before rebuilding.
Map URLs and redirects early. Preserving important URLs helps reduce unnecessary SEO risk.
Set up the Framer system before moving content. Define pages, components, breakpoints, CMS collections, and metadata first.
Test integrations and workflows end to end before switching the domain.
A Wix to Framer migration usually means rebuilding the website in Framer, then moving the content, URLs, integrations, and SEO setup across carefully.
For B2B teams, it is also a useful opportunity to clean up the website: remove outdated pages, simplify the CMS, review old Wix apps, and build a system that marketing can manage more easily after launch.
If you are still deciding on the platform, start with our guide on whether Framer is the right platform for your B2B website.

Why do B2B teams move from Wix to Framer?
Wix can support a broad range of business websites and has a large ecosystem of apps and built-in business tools.
Framer is often a good fit when the website is primarily a B2B marketing site and the team wants more control over visual design, reusable components, responsive layouts, and landing-page production.
For the B2B sites we work on, we generally care about how easy the website will be to operate after launch: creating new pages, publishing content, adjusting layouts, and making campaign changes without unnecessary technical dependencies.
Things to consider before planning the migration
Wix-specific functionality deserves a separate review before you commit to the migration.
Features built with Wix Stores, Bookings, Members, automations, Velo, or third-party Wix apps may not have a direct equivalent in Framer. In some cases, the same workflow can be rebuilt with a Framer plugin, embed, external tool, or custom code. In others, you may need to change how the feature works.
Before rebuilding the site, make a list of these functions and confirm the implementation path for each one in Framer. This avoids discovering late in the project that an important Wix app or workflow cannot be reproduced in the same way.

How to migrate from Wix to Framer
1. Audit and back up the existing Wix site
Start with a complete inventory of the current site:
pages and URLs
CMS collections
forms and integrations
apps and automations
analytics and tracking
media and downloads
SEO metadata
redirects
custom code
Wix currently does not offer a downloadable full-site backup. Instead, you can use Site History and duplicate the site inside Wix as safeguards.
CMS collections can be exported separately as CSV, while uploaded files can be downloaded through Wix's Media Manager. See guides on exporting Wix CMS collections and downloading files from Wix Media Manager.

2. Plan your new site structure
Review the site before rebuilding it.
A simple framework is:
Keep: still useful and working well.
Redesign: the page is needed, but the structure or messaging should change.
Merge: several similar pages can become one stronger page.
Remove: outdated content with little traffic, backlink value, or business use.
3. Map your sitemap and URLs
Create an old-to-new URL map early.
Track:
Old URL | New URL | Keep / Redirect / Remove | SEO title | Status
Keep important URLs unchanged where practical. When a URL changes, plan the redirect before launch. You can use our free Migration URL Mapping Template to manage this.
Wix also allows existing redirects to be exported as CSV, which is useful if the site already has historical URL changes. See how to export URL Redirects with a CSV File in Wix.

4. Set up your Framer project
Create the Framer structure before moving all the content.
We normally set up:
sitemap and pages
typography, colours, and spacing
reusable components
desktop, tablet, and mobile breakpoints
navigation and footer
CMS collections and fields
SEO metadata structure

Framer recommends using reusable components and CMS collections when structuring sites for scale. See Framer's guide to setting up a site for scale.
5. Transfer content and rebuild pages
Static Wix pages generally need to be rebuilt in Framer rather than imported as finished pages.
CMS content is more transferable. Wix collections can be exported to CSV, cleaned up, mapped to your new Framer CMS fields, and imported.
Additionally, Framer Agents can also read CSV files and create or update CMS items, which can be useful for larger migrations. See how to add content to your CMS with Framer Agents.

For CMS, check:
slugs
rich-text formatting
dates
authors
categories
images
alt text
internal links
SEO metadata
For larger sites, we would recommend migrating a small sample first. Once the CMS structure and templates are working correctly, continue with the remaining content.
6. Set up forms and integrations
List every system connected to the Wix site, such as HubSpot, GA4, GTM, Calendly, chat tools, CRM workflows, and marketing automation.
Framer provides native forms and can send submissions to email, Google Sheets, or webhooks. Third-party forms can also be embedded. Custom scripts for analytics, marketing tools and chat can be added through Framer's Custom Code settings.
We also cover common setups in our guides to HubSpot with Framer, GA4 with Framer and Greenhouse with Framer.
7. Set up redirects and SEO
Preserve important URLs where possible. If the URL changes, redirect the old path to its closest relevant replacement. Our guide to changing a Framer CMS slug without losing SEO explains this redirect principle in more detail.
Framer lets you configure permanent redirects from its hosting settings, including wildcard rules for groups of URLs. See setting up redirects in Framer.
Also migrate titles, meta descriptions, headings, alt text, internal links, canonical settings, structured data, and indexing rules. Framer provides built-in SEO controls and automatically generates an XML sitemap.
8. QA and launch
Before switching the domain, check:
desktop, tablet, and mobile layouts
CMS content
navigation and links
forms, integrations and analytics
redirects
metadata
downloads
accessibility basics
404 page
Framer's staging setup lets you test a published version separately before deploying it to the live domain.
Once QA is complete, connect the existing domain to Framer. See Framer’s guide on how to connect a custom domain.
After launch, submit the new sitemap in Google Search Console and monitor indexing, organic traffic, conversions, form submissions, and 404 errors.
Keep the old Wix project available temporarily while you verify the migration.
Tips for a smoother migration
Audit Wix-specific functionality first. Stores, Bookings, Members, automations, and Velo code may require separate tools or custom development.
Clean up before rebuilding. Avoid carrying outdated pages and unused Wix apps into the new site.
Build the CMS before importing. Changing the structure is much easier before hundreds of items have been migrated.
Map URLs early. Redirect planning becomes harder when it is left until launch week.
Test business workflows end to end. CRM routing, attribution, analytics, consent, and automation matter as much as the pages themselves.

FAQs
Can you import a Wix website directly into Framer?
Not as a complete website. Wix layouts and components generally need to be rebuilt in Framer, while structured CMS content can be exported and migrated separately.
Can Wix CMS content be moved to Framer?
Yes. Wix CMS collections can be exported as CSV and then mapped into Framer CMS collections.
Will moving from Wix to Framer hurt SEO?
It can if important URLs, metadata, internal links, or redirects are lost. Preserve important URLs where practical and redirect changed URLs to the closest relevant page.
How long does a Wix to Framer migration take?
It depends on the number of unique page layouts, CMS items, integrations, redesign work, and review rounds. A relatively straightforward B2B marketing site generally takes a few weeks.
Should we redesign while moving from Wix to Framer?
Often, yes. If the current site already needs structural or visual work, the migration is a good opportunity to improve the sitemap, CMS, components, and page layouts at the same time.
